The Children’s Addiction and Mental Health Outpatient Services Step Up Step Down and Move Your Mood will be moving into the Centre of Excellence, alongside community partners such as the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre, Red Deer Polytechnic and the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Center.

The Centre of Excellence is on the Red Deer Polytech grounds, which will increase student learning, research opportunities and post-graduate employment.

This brand-new space will be bright and welcoming, have access to free parking and be conveniently located right of Highway 2, adjacent to walking trails and the G.W. Harris Canada Game Centre.

Our team shows raises awareness by wearing t-shirts with key messages in support of World Mental Health Day.

The World Health Organization defines mental health as a form of well-being that allows individuals to handle normal stresses, realize their abilities, learn and work well, be productive and contribute to their communities.

Every year, October 10 marks World Mental Health Day. The goal is to raise awareness about mental health and the tools and supports available to support positive mental health. Talking about mental health and showing compassion for one another can help to decrease the stigma associated with mental illness.

At AHS, we strive to Change the Conversation to inspire dialogue and explore challenging topics like this to help develop safe, healthy, inclusive and respectful workplaces.

On June 27 the Move your Mood and The Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre hosted a community BBQ.

Move Your Mood (MYM) is a research-based program that promotes physical activity and healthy lifestyle practices to improve the mental and physical well-being of participants. The MYM program provides opportunities for participants to experience how to move their bodies, fuel their bodies, practice mindfulness, and build positive coping strategies. Evidence from the MYM research study indicates that a physical activity program must be at least 8 weeks to see change in mental well-being. The goal is that participants have fun in the program, gain confidence and competence to be active and healthy for life.
