Who we are, what we do

Courtney Schmode, Advanced Care Paramedic

Courtney Schmode, Advanced Care Paramedic: I love my job as a paramedic because every day brings a new opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life. Whether it’s responding to a critical emergency or simply being a calm presence in a moment of fear, I get to be there for people when they need help the most. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that my skills and decisions can directly impact outcomes and bring comfort in chaos. One of the most fulfilling parts of my role is teaching—whether I’m mentoring new medics, guiding students through their practicum and in the classroom, or sharing knowledge with the public. I believe that passing on what I’ve learned is just as important as applying it in the field. Helping others grow their confidence and skill not only strengthens the team but also ensures better care for everyone. Being a paramedic isn’t just a job to me, and I am proud to be part of something so meaningful.
