Kate Skoreyko, Advanced Care Paramedic, Reintegration Facilitator: In high school, the local paramedics offered an elective course certifying the class in CPR and advanced first aid. I was hooked. After joining the peer support team out of recruitment and watching the reintegration program initiated in Edmonton, I knew this was a team I believed in and wanted to be a part of. Witnessing the resilience and post traumatic growth of my peers during the reintegration process has been beyond fulfilling. When I see my peers returning to work with renewed purpose, deeper empathy, greater skill and self-awareness it reaffirms why this program matters. My most memorable moments were the platoon breakfasts after night shifts. Ending a tour with my peers over a triple stack of Mr. Carson's pancakes always filled my cup and set me up for days off.
