Shared Commitments Initiative
Thank you for providing your input into Alberta Health Services’ (AHS) new Shared Commitments. Your feedback helped shape this important work. We look forward to beginning to roll-out the Shared Commitments across AHS beginning in Spring 2024.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) is dedicated to continuously improving Albertans’ healthcare experiences, and a key part of this effort is empowering patients and families to be full partners in care. We are currently working with patients, families, advisors, and healthcare providers to create a set of Shared Commitments between patients and providers.
For those receiving healthcare services, these Shared Commitments will make them more active partners in their healthcare. For those providing healthcare services, the commitments give more insight into treating the whole person, rather than just treating an illness or injury.
These Shared Commitments are intended to enhance mutually respectful, satisfying relationships during care. By supporting patients' active involvement in their care, we can create a more equitable healthcare system.
Meaningful and diverse engagement is a cornerstone of the Shared Commitments initiative. Hearing what patients, families, staff, and healthcare providers have to say will help us create an informed and inclusive set of commitments that meets the needs of providers and Albertans in all communities.
