Red Deer Regional Hospital Center has launched a new service within the Emergency Department dedicated to supporting individuals who present with addiction & mental health crises. We have hired additional resources including RN, LPNs and PSW’s who will comprise a 24/7 team in the ED. Additional supports will serve the General Public of Red Deer and surrounding population in Rural medical settings. The goals of this new service include enhanced support to addiction and/or mental health patients, overall improved patient flow and reduced wait times.
Implementation of this program was launched November 20, 2023, continued collaboration with the public who has accessed our service can contribute to workflow process and the possibility of additional resources to be added to the Psychiatric Emergency Support initiative if proven to be required. Psychiatric Emergency Supports Launch
this is an upcoming stage for Psychiatric Emergency Supports
We are pleased to share that we have secured additional staff resources for the RDRHC Emergency Department (ED) to support patients who present with addiction and mental health crises.
These staff – including new psychiatric nurses, RNs and LPNs – will comprise a dedicated Psychiatric Emergency Supports team. Effective Nov. 20, 2023 this time will be available 24/7 in the ED to provide care for patients in crisis.
The goals of this new team is to provide enhanced support to addiction and/or mental health patients, support improved patient flow within the ED and help reduce wait times for patients who require AMH supports.
This in turn will help to reduce wait times overall for all patients.
