Red Deer Regional Hospital Center has launched a new service within the Emergency Department dedicated to supporting individuals who present with addiction & mental health crises. We have hired additional resources including RN, LPNs and PSW’s who will comprise a 24/7 team in the ED. Additional supports will serve the General Public of Red Deer and surrounding population in Rural medical settings. The goals of this new service include enhanced support to addiction and/or mental health patients, overall improved patient flow and reduced wait times.

Implementation of this program was launched November 20, 2023, continued collaboration with the public who has accessed our service can contribute to workflow process and the possibility of additional resources to be added to the Psychiatric Emergency Support initiative if proven to be required.
