Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Update

The Emergency Department at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH) is the first point of contact when driving up to the facility, with the entrance located on the south end of the building. It has capacity for more than 50 treatment spaces, which is nearly double the space currently utilized at the QEII Hospital Emergency Department. There are also 50 public parking spaces available nearby.

The Outpatient Department can be found on the main floor in the northwest corner of the building. Situated directly across from the main patient registration area and adjacent to the pedway and parkade, patient movement through the department is designed to be streamlined and efficient.

Our furniture and equipment team has been busy receiving deliveries and installing furniture and equipment throughout the facility. A few of the items that have arrived in the last month include over-bed tables, overhead patient lifts, exam tables, baby-warming units, staff seating and waiting room furniture. Convenient power outlets for electronic device charging can be found in most public seating areas around the hospital.

  • Tansi and good day. We want to engage those who may be served by the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital to help create a facility that reflects the people of the region. We are an incredibly diverse community, including people with a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds; and we share this land with strong, proud Indigenous communities.

That’s why in 2019 the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Indigenous Engagement Committee was formed to guide AHS and help to ensure the Grande Prairie Reginal Hospital is a culturally safe space for Indigenous patients and their families.

We want to hear from you. Please share your ideas below on how we can visually express a warm and inclusive welcome to the hospital, now and for years to come.

    Respectfully,

    Stacy Greening and  Len Auger

    Committee co-chairs
