Responding with Proficiency & Compassion

In the fall of 2022 I found my husband at the bottom of a ladder – he’d been 25 feet in the air, cleaning the eaves when the ladder slipped. The paramedics who arrived at our acreage north of Spruce Grove brought the right mix of proficiency and compassion as they assessed his vital status and prepared for transfer.

As the paramedics repeatedly asked how far he had fallen, it was clear they were surprised my husband was conscious and could move his toes. Their kind smiles and quips mixed gratitude with our fear as we realized just how much worse the situation could have been.

I was grateful for how they spoke to my husband and involved him in the decisions they were making, and for how they provided me with the information I needed to prepare my kids and ask neighbours for help.

Thank you!
