    Preparing for Centralized Orientation

A Centralized Orientation for IENs will take place in Edmonton for two weeks. The orientation will consist of group learning activities such as classroom discussions, skills practice, simulation activities, as well as self-study activities (e.g., completing online modules and viewing videos). Once you arrive in Edmonton, you will receive a package that details how to get to orientation (it is within walking distance to your hotel).

    How to Prepare

    • Complete the education pre-requisites (do this before you come to Alberta).
    • Wear casual and comfortable clothes for non-simulation days.
    • Please bring:
      • Stethoscope, scrubs and shoes for the simulation day.
      • Your Canadian banking information (time is set aside to learn how to set up direct deposit)
      • A listening device (i.e., wired or wireless earbuds).
      • Either a laptop, tablet or cell phone to complete your onboarding and online learning activities.
        • There will be limited access to computers for those who cannot bring their own devices.
      • A universal adaptor to ensure your devices can be charged on Canadian outlets.
