Diagnostic laboratory services are an integral part of the healthcare system. Lab results inform the majority of patient care decisions made every day by clinicians such as diagnosis, whether a patient should be hospitalized and what treatments are needed, including surgery. The Edmonton lab hub will integrate selected laboratory, translational research and teaching functions currently located on eight sites across Edmonton, resulting in a facility that is unique in Canada. It will be competitive, in both design and function, with the best-practice lab hubs around the world.
