Alberta Health Services is continually working to improve its websites. Finding My Way is a current initiative that we’d like to invite you to get involved in to improve wayfinding for services, facilities and resources on the AHS websites.
Finding My Way
With 86% of Albertans connected to the internet, Albertans, patients and families are looking for more information online when interacting with their healthcare system. We are undertaking a new strategic project to better understand what’s working, what’s not working and how we can improve wayfinding for Albertans, patients and families.
Capturing the Albertan voice
Our approach and strategy is to work with Albertans and center our design around their needs. We plan to create a new approach to wayfinding for services, facilities and resources by using a co-design technique with patients and their advocates, to better understand their needs and what is important to them.

We’re redesigning the APL Test Directory to create an intuitive tool that helps users quickly find and understand lab test information. We’re seeking input from healthcare professionals who use the current directory but do not have access to Epic, including researchers and external partners. Your feedback will help us validate and refine the new design, so it supports high-quality, efficient care across Alberta and beyond.
If you’d like to take part, please complete this short survey to sign up. At the end, you can choose a session time that works for you.
Spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once all sessions are full, we’ll close the survey – but if registration fills up before that happens, we may need to reach out to let you know the sessions are full.
Someone from the Innovation and Digital Solutions team will be in touch to confirm your session time and share a few more details. Each session will take about 45 minutes and be held 1:1 on Microsoft Teams.
