Kim Hogarth, RN, DNP, is Alberta’s first chief nursing officer (CNO) and among the first in Canada with a focus on primary care. To this role, she brings experience as a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse and nurse practitioner, and has a clinical background in rural settings, including emergency, labour and delivery, and acute care. She holds a Master of Nursing–Nurse Practitioner degree and a doctorate in nursing practice. While serving as CNO, Kim will continue leading work on team-based care, patient attachment, chronic disease prevention, and management strategies as executive director. Her past roles include program director in AHS Provincial Medical Affairs, where she oversaw physician compensation and care model planning; associate dean and later dean at Red Deer Polytechnic; and associate dean at Bow Valley College in health science faculties. A proud member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, Kim is passionate about Indigenous health. She lives near Olds with her family, enjoying gardening and life on their acreage.
