Council Meeting - May 14, 2020
The Patient and Family Advisory Council was provided with an update on the Neighborhood Area Structure Plan (NASP). This plan went to the Edmonton’s City Council for first & second reading, and a public hearing. The NASP will now go to the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board for approval prior to Council’s third reading and approval.
Advisory Council members were presented with a Patient Journey scenario involving an admission to an inpatient unit at the New Edmonton Hospital. They were asked to provide feedback on topics such as:
- Patient room environment
- Registration processes
- Use of voice technology in the patient room
- Importance of family members being able to stay overnight
- Discharge from the hospital.
Results from a pre-meeting survey on Nutrition preferences were also reviewed. Feedback was obtained on topics such as:
- Ordering food during an inpatient stay
- Communal dining
- Scheduling of meals
Work on the proposed new hospital in southwest Edmonton is on hold. Visit Alberta Health’s Capital Projects website for more information.
