Council Meeting - Jan 10, 2019

The architectural team joined the Patient and Family Advisory Council at this meeting. After a review of the planning phase, Council participated in a fun workshop. Divided into four teams, Council discussed the flow and experience that they envisioned for the new hospital. Each team was responsible for envisioning one of four areas. These areas included:

  • The LRT
  • The front entry
  • The emergency department
  • A patient’s room.

Each team, then, cut out photos from magazines and built a vision board of their assigned area.

Several themes emerged from these visions boards including:

  • Hope
  • A connection to nature
  • A sense of security and warmth
  • A pathway to wellness

Some of the more specific details that emerged included the need for natural light, warm colours, plants, wood elements, artwork, and designing spaces for cold climates.

At the next meeting (Thursday, February 14), the architectural team will review the workshop input and present these design and operational principles.
