Council Meeting - Dec 13, 2018
The Patient and Family Advisory Council looked at aspects of how to create a vision and theme for the new hospital and the surrounding neighborhood. To help guide discussions and provide background information, a recap of a recent City of Edmonton Engagement session was presented. The information briefed members on what a healthy community means and what it might look like.
Council members explored some initial concepts of what healthcare looks like to Edmontonians. A couple of key questions were presented and discussed including:
- What do Edmontonians want in a new hospital?
- How do Edmontonians define a healthy community?
Over the upcoming weeks, Council will craft a vision and theme for a healthy community. The vision and theme will help guide the design concept of the hospital and the neighborhood.
During the meeting, Council also reviewed the general approach to designing and building the hospital and had an opportunity to talk about the design concept process and ask questions.
Work on the proposed new hospital in southwest Edmonton is on hold. Visit Alberta Health’s Capital Projects website for more information.
